How Sydney Montgomery Achieved Forbes 30 Under 30 Recognition & Expanded Her Non-Profit's Impact
the Challenge
Princeton and Harvard Law graduate, Sydney Montgomery is the founder of Barrier Breakers, a non-profit dedicated to increasing access to and success in higher education for first-generation and minority students. With a cohort of thousands of student successes under her belt, Sydney was looking to get more exposure for her programs to reach new donors and help more individuals thrive in education. She had also always dreamed of being recognized as a Forbes 30 under 30.
our Solution
We crafted a media relations program designed to take advantage of Sydney’s deep and unique educational and entrepreneurial expertise. Offering her opinion and insight to Tier 1 editorial teams, she was able to bring their stories to life around key issues including the Supreme Court’s decision on proportional representation. Activity included detailed media research, story development, proactive media pitching, interview coordination and briefing and expert byline development.
key Results
Our work resulted in a number of tier-one media features, including CNBC, CTV News, Fast Co, Forbes, and Inc. among others. Sydney was notably selected for Forbes 30 under 30 for Social Impact, and unlocked many exclusive opportunities including participating in global Forbes events and doing a celebrated TEDx talk titled First-Generation Graduates Drive Business Success which has been viewed over 24,000 times.
